FOREWORDS - THE MUSEUM DEFINITION. A WAY FORWARD (FR/NL
by Vanessa BRAEKEVELD (ICOM FL) & Alexandre CHEVALIER (ICOM WB)

In 2016, ICOM considered it necessary to revise the current definition of museum to bring it in line with the evolution of museum practices. In 2019, because of both its content and of the process used to reach it, the proposal submitted to the General Assembly in Kyoto was rejected and the revision mandate was extended. Since then, a new committee has been formed and a new procedure initiated. We will therefore report on the situation and the upcoming process.

_____OPTION 1. PANEL - FROM PHYSICAL TO DIGITAL EXPERIENCES. TOWARDS A REDEFINITION OF THE POST-COVID MUSEUM'S BOUNDARIES (EN/FR/NL)
moderated by Diane DEGREEF (MSW) and Pieter VAN DER GHEYNST (Brussels Museums)

The roundtable tackles the technological tools put in place during the health crisis (especially for Millenials), their qualitative limits in terms of visitor experience and the digital divide that they can create. How to position and attract the new generation while remaining inclusive? Should we expect digital fatigue as a reaction to confinement? How do we reintroduce the virtual into the real after containment? How can we go beyond "simple" online content and give it real added value?

_____OPTION 2. WORKSHOP - HOW MUSEUMS CAN BENEFIT FROM THE WIKIMEDIA COMMUNITY? (EN) - LIMITED SEATS
by Geert VAN PAMEL

Museums can benefit from using Wikipedia and Wikimedia applications to document their collections. Museums, like other non-profit organizations, have low budgets and little personnel, so volunteers can add to their efforts. The Wikimedia applications can facilitate and coordinate their projects. The techniques used by Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons will be described, and a demo will be given.

INSPIRATIONAL TALK - POPULARIZE ART HISTORY FROM A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE (FR)
by Julie BEAUZAC (Venus s'épilait-elle la chatte?) live from Berlin

Why are museums filled with naked women next to dressed men? Why does art stage so many rape scenes? Why are the great geniuses all men? Since Linda Nochlin and John Berger, sexism in Western art is no longer to be demonstrated, but this perspective is rarely presented to the general public.

_____OPTION 2. WORKSHOP - MAKING MUSEUMS SUSTAINABLE - LIMITED SEATS (FR/NL)
by Lili SULAMITH BRODBECK, Anne ROELANDT and Lucy DRICOT (EventChange)

For years now, many sectors of the tourism industry have been making the ecological transition. What about museums? When we talk about sustainable development in museums, we generally associate it with preventive conservation, eco-design of museography and exhibitions, and a sustainable strategy that inevitably involves organizational changes. However, the issue of sustainable development in this sector is in reality much more encompassing and transversal. In this sense, this workshop aims to challenge all actors and all types of events within a museum or a heritage site. Rethinking our production, consumption, and collaboration habits in a collective and participative way, sharing useful and practical tools, exchanging on the obstacles and needs are all necessary steps to an effective approach towards a real transition.
The workshop will be animated by Eventchange, supported by Pastoo Asbl.
